And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

I remember watching a documentary about this thing back in the 90's on PBS and it was a stunning accomplishment. Several points along the way the bottom of it was scraping the sea floor.
Thank God the women and minorities have make work projects like these to keep white males of the streets! How much of this is below the water in that picture?
Once they hit the open ocean, they no longer need the tow.

DeleteImpressive. I wonder how much ballast they used to keep it upright. A stiff wind would have been a nightmare.
