  2. Troll "A" platform - the tallest structure ever moved by man, 1,550 ft overall. Installed in almost 1,000 ft of water, standalone (no mooring or guy wires). Still producing from about 40 gas wells, almost 30 years later. Now in its compression phase.

    2. I remember watching a documentary about this thing back in the 90's on PBS and it was a stunning accomplishment. Several points along the way the bottom of it was scraping the sea floor.

  3. Impressive. I wonder how much ballast they used to keep it upright. A stiff wind would have been a nightmare.

  5. Overtook this thing while it was being towed into the North Sea when I was a JO on deployment. Mind boggling massive.
