And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

I bet Shatner never thought this role would be the pinnacle of his career
He's got a massive ego and is vain, but he's smart enough to know that, if he's self-deprecating and good-natured about it, people will still like him. And as his recent ride into space shows, they like him enough to keep buying his ego, lunch.
Not sure if I'd call being Kirk the pinnacle of his career. A major role that made it possible for him to become well known yes. But he's done a LOT of things outside of Star Trek. He's just smart enough to know that the role launched his career and isn't afraid to remember that fact and act accordingly.
Nah...you guys got it all wrong. William Shatner is presently engaged in his best role ever in a gig with American Greetings. This ecard is hilarious and every recipient we've sent it to loves it. https://www.americangreetings.com/detail/ecards/birthday/william-shatner-shout-out-song-ecard-personalize-lyrics/pn/prod3438084

Yeah, he was still marvelous as Denny Crane.
ReplyDeleteT.J. Hooker was OK, but I watched it for Heather Locklear.
ReplyDeleteIt's a Gorn, my lord, in a flatbed Ford slowin down to take a look at me.
ReplyDeleteThing is he's good. Fun to watch, gets really into his character. Name something that his presence has made worse.
ReplyDeleteThe overacting? That's from starting out in theater.
He doesn't take himself seriously. And he's laughing all the way to the bank.

ReplyDeleteMeh.
ReplyDeleteThat Gorn head at auction could probably fund a year's decent retirement.
$27,500 when Ben Stiller bought the only known one in existence.
Career pinnacle?
Not so sure.
