And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I'm sorry, but falling a tree while sitting on your ass ten feet off the ground is not what I call smart. The first thing I would do is learn to operate that saw from the other side of the tree.
Sawyers are folks that you never want to piss off. They work all day lugging and working a saw and they get "off the scale" strong arms and shoulders. They can easily take your standard buffed out gym rat and tie him in knots.

ReplyDeleteShouldn't that be "felling"?
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Just like mixing "lie" and "lay", which is endemic in real life as well as on the web, but what can you do about it?
DeleteYes it should be
DeleteI think it should. I have never in my life heard anyone say "I'm gonna "fall" this tree.
ReplyDeleteYou would have heard it used that way if you hung around tree fallers. Local usage.
DeleteFair enough. There seems to be a hiccup in your reply software:-)
DeleteIt is 'falling' but I don't know why. He's also 'riding that springboard'.
ReplyDeleteFalling it is and if there were a safer way to be doing it you can bet your keester he'd be doing it.
ReplyDeleteHad a college textbook for a forestry class titled "Fallers and Buckers Handbook". You can imagine what we called it.....
