And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Rocket City, Salerno Afghanistan in the Khost providence had some 105's that could hit anything in the valley and over some of the mountains. Outgoing fire was easily distinguished from incoming as there was a rhythm and everything shook.
That photo is truly a work of art! Catching the projectile just clear of the exhaust could be achieved through selecting the right one from a burst, but the perspective of the photo, with the edge of the downpour aligned just right was a masterful (or lucky?), stroke.
If it hasn't been named yet, I would suggest, "The Incoming Storm".
Artillery the King of Battle; Since 1775, bringing dignity to what would otherwise be an ugly brawl. No matter the weather, service delivered on time-on target 24/7/365. And the picture is more so "Outgoing Storm".
as per my last email.....

Depends on your perspective. If you're on the receiving end, it's incoming, as is the weather. Irony seems lost on some folks...
DeleteSorry kids, that pic has zip to do with Big Green.
ReplyDeleteThat's a 155mm Panter, developed by Turkey, and deployed by them and Pakistan.
(The quad wheels are the giveaway.)
DeleteAnd at 18tons, it's twice as heavy as the old M198, and about 4x heavier than the current US M777.
That thing ain't meant to move much.
With counterbattery fire, they'll get one or two volleys, then eat the counterbattery fire, and be out of action forever after that.
Unless you're fighting unarmed pygmies, that there is a suicide machine.
NOW! That up there are some knowledgeable guys!!
