Yeah. That Hair...

  1. Why is 'hair" both singular and plural? Why isn't this make titled Hairs".

    In linguistics, a collective noun is a word referring to a collection of things taken as a whole. Most collective nouns in everyday speech are not specific to one kind of thing. For example, the collective noun "group" can be applied to people, or dogs, objects and hair.

    So that's why.

  2. When I was a kid my mom would comb my sisters' hair and she'd be screaming because of all the tangles. My ex wife would holler if I accidentally pulled her hair in an embrace. It ain't all rosy.
