And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Were they recovering the original ones, or did they buy a bunch of them?
Losing hubcaps when the wheel flexes from a bump was a big problem back in the day. There was a deep pothole near where we were staying for an extended vacation in Ft Lauderdale back in '75. Made enough from collecting them to keep us fed every day. Sold them to a hubcap store in the city. Collected full sets of fancy ones in a fairly short time period. Never saw any markings, but I wouldn't be surprised to discover we were recycling the same ones.
Bill Hickman was the actor/stuntman was the one driving the Charger 440 Magnum. It made his reputation. He was also first on the scene when James Dean crashed - Dean died in his arms (they were good friends and racing mates)
My recently passed uncle loved this movie. Retired Ford foreman at the engine plant in Lima, Ohio. I remember him buying this movie on VHS when the VCR was first out, must have been mid 80’s. Said he paid $89 for it at the time, can’t imagine what that translates to in today’s dollars but he felt it was well worth it.
Ouch? Save that for when they hit the gas station pumps.......
ReplyDeleteHave you ever counted how may hub caps come off the Charger during the car chase?
ReplyDeleteI think I counted six at one time.
