And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Nature's Mystery: Watch the Hypnotic Dance of a Starling Murmuration
Every June/July, literally 250K+ of Purple Martins return to Bomb Island in Lake Murray, SC west of Columbia. Hang around for a week or two, then migrate.
Texas Station A&M, birds flew like this in one intersection then landed on the phone wires the whole week I was there & all I could think of was the movie..THE BIRDS.

ReplyDeletearound thanksgiving this occurs over Gates County, NC every year, I've seen it many times and I've never grown tired of it.
ReplyDeleteImagine thousands of human pilots trying to do such a thing! It would never be done. And we use the term "bird brain" as an insult!
ReplyDeleteMumurations are an example of "emergence" (https://shorturl.at/jLrUd). Which, IMO, accounts for much of what are called "social movements".
