And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

I got one of these years - decades - ago, and I'm still using it. Like my Griswold skillet, I'm thinking the kids will use it too, then their kids, then....
Old out of service home heating oil tanks in NC 2" diameter fill pipes are opened with (1) it and chisel or (2) 18" monkey/stilson wrench with repeated strikes. Done that 5,000 times.
At 71 get calls every week. Tell them it's $530, plus expenses to drive from Beaufort, SC to CLT & inspect & quote. 90% agree.
My father was a hobby carpenter/furniture builder.
ReplyDeleteWhen he passed, he was buried with his Estwing hammer and his favorite folding wood rule. He had used both tools for 3 decades or more.
A few years before he died, we bought him a new Estwing, which he promptly hung up on his tool wall while he continued to use his old one.
Good tool. If you find one at a garage sale, just buy it.
ReplyDeleteI had a 2 1/2 pound hammer which was enough to drive a rock drill. If you miss with a 4 lb it's really gonna hurt and maybe break your wrist.
