I got one of these years - decades - ago, and I'm still using it. Like my Griswold skillet, I'm thinking the kids will use it too, then their kids, then....

  1. My father was a hobby carpenter/furniture builder.

When he passed, he was buried with his Estwing hammer and his favorite folding wood rule. He had used both tools for 3 decades or more.

A few years before he died, we bought him a new Estwing, which he promptly hung up on his tool wall while he continued to use his old one.

  2. Good tool. If you find one at a garage sale, just buy it.

  3. I had a 2 1/2 pound hammer which was enough to drive a rock drill. If you miss with a 4 lb it's really gonna hurt and maybe break your wrist.

  4. ...50-years on, still have a Bell System issued "no-bounce" hammer.

  5. Old out of service home heating oil tanks in NC 2" diameter fill pipes are opened with (1) it and chisel or (2) 18" monkey/stilson wrench with repeated strikes. Done that 5,000 times.

At 71 get calls every week. Tell them it's $530, plus expenses to drive from Beaufort, SC to CLT & inspect & quote. 90% agree.

  6. I have several Estwings from back in the day.
This one was great for masonry demo jobs.
