Dodge Madness

  1. Dodge madness is spending $7500 to maintain the '02 Durango I got in my son's divorce.six years ago I traded him a Corolla because the Dodge needed so much work. Currently 140,000 miles. I should have traded it then but who knew? Someone called this a "Repair Loop'. You keep hoping this time will be the last. My '88 Jimmy at that point had only needed a starter and normal maintenance. The Durango has only confirmed what I thought about Chrysler products.

    1. Right now I have a 2013 Silverado, 2013 F-150 and a 2018 F-250(gasser) all with over 100K miles.
The Silverado (210K) was in the shop for a ball joint, the F-250 (187K) was in for a coil pack, the F-150 (120K) was in for a trans coding reboot.

I made the mistake of buying two Dodge pick ups in the last 30 years. BOTH of them were in for (expensive) steering problems and driveline problems in less than 100K miles.

  2. I've had good Toyotas and bad Toyotas. I had a good Dodge and a lousy El Camino. I've got a great Nissan p/u. It's the luck of the draw.

    1. Never cared for the look of these and not just because I had to wipe them down for the forest rangers every morning.

  3. All dressed up and nowhere to go. That rig isn't going to see any off road time. Too purty fer dirt.

    1. Just because it would be great to knock around in the woods in that rig doesn't mean you'd have to drive it like you're a dumbassed teenager.

  4. In the seventies I worked on several CalFire Dodge rigs from D-250 pickups to D-600 crew busses that were about the same year model as that pickup above. In my experience their dependability was top notch.
Then there's the fact that CDF's Preventative Maintenance program was through the roof stringent. I learned a lot in those few years.

  5. Fugly but still preferable to Musk madness.
