    1. That overlooks the counter measures that were and would have been developed. Things aren't stagnant, there's always spies and whistleblowers exposing what's going on behind the scenes.
      You can apply that to any battle too. What if Ike had waited a couple months while the French coast was blown to bits?

  6. My dad talked about those as they encountered while flying B-17 missions over Germany. They did not like it one bit!

    1. Understatement. B17 crews in Europe had a higher casualty rate than the invasion troops at Iwo Jima.

  7. The number 8 is pronounced “acht” … so saying 8 twice is acht-acht… that’s how we coined the term Ack Ack for incoming AA fire.
