And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
My first vehicle was a black CJ-5, that I bought used in 1977. It was probably a '73 or '74 model. Drove it cross-country for a summer job on the west coast. Loved that car.
Back in '81 to '83 (?) Jeep advertised a Jeep for ~ $3,000, I went into the Jeep show room in San Rafael, California to take a look. It was just like the one in the picture (top right) except that one has fancy wheels and a back seat. Sadly I didn't buy it then...
I had a 78 CJ-7 with the Levi package for a week. It was topless and I parked it outside the garage coming in from the hay field for lunch. Half way through lunch my dad said he smelt something burning. My new Jeep was fully involved. I was alternating the hose from the house to the Jeep. The fire department finally put it out. It was a wiring problem from the factory. Jeep bought it back. Done with Jeep.
Jeeps are ok I guess. For my fellow Toyota Land Cruiser enthusiasts: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/all-land-cruisers-manuals-factory-lit-etc.194207/

ReplyDeleteStill have a 1977 CJ5. I think it’s my 7th Jeep vehicle.

Had a '68 CJ-5 that was a money pit.
ReplyDeleteMy dad had a '65 with that big OHC six. Piece of crap.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that the CJ-5 outlasted the CJ-6 in the line-up. I'll have the pickup, please.
