76 was a good year

  1. My first vehicle was a black CJ-5, that I bought used in 1977. It was probably a '73 or '74 model. Drove it cross-country for a summer job on the west coast. Loved that car.

  2. Still have a 1977 CJ5. I think it’s my 7th Jeep vehicle.

  3. Back in '81 to '83 (?) Jeep advertised a Jeep for ~ $3,000, I went into the Jeep show room in San Rafael, California to take a look. It was just like the one in the picture (top right) except that one has fancy wheels and a back seat.
Sadly I didn't buy it then...

  6. Interesting that the CJ-5 outlasted the CJ-6 in the line-up. I'll have the pickup, please.

  8. I had a 78 CJ-7 with the Levi package for a week. It was topless and I parked it outside the garage coming in from the hay field for lunch. Half way through lunch my dad said he smelt something burning. My new Jeep was fully involved. I was alternating the hose from the house to the Jeep. The fire department finally put it out. It was a wiring problem from the factory. Jeep bought it back. Done with Jeep.
