And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
That's me, back in the 70s summers. Mine had the 4-banger too, 194 c.i. It would be fun to have one again, but it would have to be a drivetrain that wasn't IH. Should be easy enough to do, there was just about room under the hood to stand up, with your feet on the ground. You could order these with anything from about 150 to 400 c.i. of motor displacement.
I had a Scout 4-banger with a 4-speed tranny and the stock high/low range 4-wheel drive. The only thing that would slow it down was deep sand....

ReplyDeleteThese can still be found in operating condition, but the price tags vary quite a lot. I'd love to have one but the cost is hard to justify right now.

ReplyDeleteI spent my youth in the 60s bashing around in one. Pull the engine and transmission and replace with a stock small block Chevy and a BorgWarner.
