And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

"A Fourth Car Absolutely Buggered!" - Very Steep Mexican Street
I've lived on the side of a very steep hill, with similar grades - and similarly grooved cement drives. The grooves really do help. It looks like these videos were all shot on damp days, which maybe has made the road extremely slick. It would be slicker without the grooves, though. They also help, when the rain comes, at getting the accumulated dust and dirt quickly washed away off the road surface.
at least it provides hours of free entertainment
