    1. The shockwave through the solid ground travels faster than the shockwave through air. For steel it can be 10x faster, for water 4x faster than air.

  5. Used to build power lines in and around open pit copper mines. On the days that the mine would blast you would feel the shock wave underfoot way before the air shock wave. Especially fun when you were in your tools standing on a pole.

    1. It was. There was another 'accident' further up the coast a couple weeks past.
      No news reports, but, it has a suspicious similarity *cough*nothingisEVERamistake*cough*....

    2. The conspiracy theorists say that it was a huge, MOAB dropped from the sky. All sorts of nefarious, child trafficking type action going on underneath it. Tunnels and such. DUMBs. deep underground military bases. Stranger things have happened.
