I had a 7 week old German Short haired pointer puppy,I named him Helmut, my dad and I took him hunting, first time. We wore him out,he tried, but he was so young. I put him in my game bag, with the jackrabbit quail, and pheasants we shot. By the time we got back to our old Plymouth Valiant, he was snoring. He is the dog I find myself, sometimes unfairly, judging all my other dogs by. I was young and was constantly moving,he was a constant. I miss him. I hope when my time is up,we meet again and go for a long walk together, with my other dogs, that would be nice.
"I was young and was constantly moving,he was a constant. I miss him." Well put, Livyer - I can identify with that sentiment when I had my most favorite dog - we were always on the go together, and he was a tireless runner, part GSD, part Husky.
Why walk when you can ride?
ReplyDeleteTucked in a warm bag, while someone else handles the walking!
