  1. Time to start saving your money....
I read that a company in Australia had the complete blueprints for the Grumman Albatross and was going to start building new ones.

    1. Aircraft shown is a Grumman G-21 Goose. The Albatross is a HU-16, used by the services for sea rescue, USAF, Navy and Coast Guard.

    2. I know, (I was a USCG Flight Mech in the HU-16) but I figured if you really wanted a multiengine amphib why not want a new one?

  5. Antilles Airboats had a terminal in Fajardo where I live. Easy way to get to St Thomas USVI. No co-pilot, they would usually put a passenger in the co-pilot seat. I always tried to get it.

Starts out feeling like a boat, then, just before getting airborne, like a submarine with water everywhere. Then all of a sudden, you are in the sir and it's smooth.

Cruising altitude was about 500-1000 feet.

    Wonderful plane.

Jimmy Buffet had one, wrote a pretty good novel about taking it to Cuba. "Where is Joe Merchant"
