  7. Leaked fuel like a sieve when on the ground - worked with a guy who maintained these when in the USAF.

  8. My fav plane for almost 60 years....and the XB-70 is a close 2nd. Still hard to wrap your head around the fact that they were faster than a 30-06 bullet. They also filled a mission role that is sorely missed. Satellites are nice, but the mission this thing performed can NOT be duplicated....I hope McNamara has his own special place in Hell for scrapping the tools and dies for it....s.o.b.

    1. You are right. The mission this things performed can not be duplicated. Today we have better tools that gather better intelligence for a fraction of the cost without having to put lives in danger.
      These sure were great tools, amazing feats of engineering, the men who operated them were braver than I'll ever be. But these tools are now obsolete.
