The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
You actually go faster on a tack that is close hauled just as they are. With the spinnaker you have more sail but are going down wind so you can only try to match the speed of the wind.
If it's that fast with those sails up, I wonder how much additional speed they could muster with a spinnaker up?
