That's already been memed (and not by me).

  2. One of the dummy 'tanks' we were supposed to destroy with airpower in XYugoslavian wars. Probably weighs 20 lbs. I'm surprised they shipped it inflated though.

    1. As a former OTR truck driver hiring a triple axle HD 53 foot trailer to haul an "Inflatable Dummy Tank weighing about 20 pounds" is hogwash.

A fake tank could be hauled in a standard two axle 53 foot cheaper.

LOOK at the triple axle wheel clearance. That's a heavy load.

I'd LOVE to see how they loaded that though.

    2. The trailer looks like some sort of rag-top and the sides look like they come off.
Probably just loaded with a crane.

    3. Called a curtain trailer. Basically a flatbed with sliding curtains so no tarping is necessary. Very lightweight.

  3. They couldn't come up with a flat bed trailer on short notice.

  4. Looks like a a Soviet-era MT-LBu. It's actually probably seen worse.

    1. Googled MT-LBu and found this

The square central hatch and the door on the left match the pic.
Looking at the interior pics the fuel tanks are inside the crew compartment?

  6. Order was to ship it. Nothing about how.

  7. There’s another one packed in in front of it too.

  8. If this happens to be an M-113 APC, they weigh 27,000+ pounds.

  9. The driver got side tracked.

    1. Easy to see how it happened, it's just a side job.

  10. If the standard had been blue and white in the other direction it would have been 3rd ID. I am not sure what Army uses red and white.

  11. Avoided the need for a pilot car since it’s not a wide load that way.

    1. ^This, right here.

Now it's just a standard load, and they'll just crane it off, the same way they craned it on, at the destination.

  13. Turk plates on that truck. Likely some booty from Astan heading for Ankara.

  15. Amazing what you can do with a “Truckers bar”, in the right hands.

  16. If put on trailer "normally" it probably would not have clearance through the streets in town. Roadways in Europe are much more narrow than USA streets.

  17. wrt fuel tanks inside the armor . . . our LVTP-7 amphibs had diesel tanks built into the sidewalls. They told us it was a feature, not a bug. Certainly less volatile than gasoline, and supposedly the fuel would tend to quench and disrupt the hot jet from a shaped charge. (RPG, etc.) Don't know that I believed that, but . . .
