  4. If that is the original box it'll be a pre-model 27 N frame. The blue boxes came out in the mid to late 50's.

  5. It's an N frame Pre-Model 27, 1956 or older. Those gold boxes date from the late '40s to the early '50s, after post-war production resumed.

  7. I like my model 686, six inch barrel. I've wanted to try a longer barrel pistol that has the same barrel length as my Remington 44 I had in the seventies.
But I need different sights, my old eyes have trouble focusing on the front sight... at arms length.

    1. Yeah, when did they start putting fuzzy sites on handguns?

    2. Are you 74? And need bifocals? And it's sights, not sites.

  9. That is a N frame. I have a stainless K frame Model 65 w/ a 4 in barrel. For an open sight pistol I shoot it better than any other open sight and a couple of my Red Dot pistols. Most of my loads are low end 357mag or slightly hotter than 38 Spl+P except for the JHP loads that are hot 357mag loads.

  11. I agree with Elmo and TSquared…that is a pre N frame and NOT a Model 19 K frame….

I have had 3 K frames and 2 N frames and the differences are obvious
