And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

A Mother with her 8 sons who all served in WWII and ALL survived and came home!
He certainly was! Too bad that large families like that are frowned upon today…scripture tells us that sons are like olive trees at your table! Represents blessings and this mom was truly blessed
To anon Jan 29 @ 8:01 am. Thought your comment was offensive and unnecessary…I take it that ALL Latinos and ALL MUSLIMS should not be allowed to have large families?
Well, if I had to guess, I would say it probably either started with an "O'" or it ended with a vowel. Either way, one of the sons was named "Joe" and one of them was supposed to become a priest, but didn't because of the war. RetRsvMike
There was a Bonnevie family in Livermore Falls, Maine, whose mother, Fideledis (ne: Dupre) and father, Mathias, welcomed home 8 sons from various WWII service. She was presented a pin with 8 stars.
My maternal Grandfather had six brothers in the army, they all came home, there were also 4 girls in the family. Grandpa was married and a farmer with 2 kids so he was exempt plus his only brother in law was in the navy so yeah total commitment. In fact Grandpa was notified that he was going to be called up anyway for the invasion of Japan, and then before he could be drafted Truman dropped the bomb. They never once felt bad about the bomb!
My mother had seven brothers and five sisters. All survived into their eighties. A remarkable generation of people. They built a country through very difficult times, then saved it for us. I fear they have not been adequately replaced. I suspect we will find out soon. Bubbarust
