And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Which is exactly why I replaced the standard grip frames on two of my Ruger Blackhawks, a .45 Colt and a .357 Magnum, with Super Blackhawk grip frames. The grips are long enough to allow all three fingers to comfortably wrap the grip. Big improvement, especially on the .45 Colt.
Not a s bad as you think You can get all 4 fingers on the grip. I carry a 3" Para Ordnace (about the same size as the Kimber ultra carry) and it handles and shoots better than you think. Beastly recoil, but that's part of small .45's.
It's not how many fingers that matter, it's how hot the cartridge is loaded. 230gr at ~825fps is no big deal. Now, the discontinued CorBon 165gr at 1180fps in that .45 will tend to cause a flinch to develop. Plus, it didn't knock over steel plates with much authority. The 200 gr load was much better all around in small .44spl snubbies and .45acp 1911's.
I wouldn't say it's out of favor, I'd say it has a dedicated following. So much so that Ruger started chambering their Blackhawk in .44 Special in 2009 due to popular demand. Fans had been bugging them to do it for 50 years.
I've got a Bisley in .44 Special with a 5 1/2" barrel and it's probably the most accurate Blackhawk I own. And it's a joy to shoot.
Cute. Short ported barrel will make this loud as hell. If you are going to get into a gun fight, carry a normal sized gun.
ReplyDeleteIF yer gonna get into a gunfight, be somewhere else.
DeleteCarry what you can for the area you are in. Not all of us can carry a full size 1911 size gun all the time.
That thing would be a beast to control. That's a 2 fingered grip on a .45. Pass.

Deletedepends on how big you fingers are. for me two or two and a half would be all. pass
DeleteIf you cannot practice enough with it to get good with it, PASS.
ReplyDeleteUnder stress your ability to use a weapon is the level you train with it.
Way too small. Your shooting hand is going to be in a sling with that tiny pistol's recoil.

ReplyDeleteThe .44 spl is out of favor but a good option in my very limited experience.
