  1. A very good patrol bomber. The PB4Y-2 was even better, as it was loaded for bear, with six power turrets with 2 fifty caliber machine guns in each.

    1. The PB4Y-2 was essentially a B-24N with it's single tail and was six feet longer. It only had two more 50's than a B-24. Any airplane that got the job done and got them home was "a better airplane".

  3. The also substituted depth charges for bombs.

    The usual contact report was "Sub sighted. Sunk same. Continuing patrol."
