  1. A shame, too. He was really a Great American. For a real eye-opener, read about the War of Northern Aggression: www.charlestonathenaeumpress.com

  2. Ive read Guelzo's book on Gettysburg. Based on that reading this should be an excellent read.

  3. I taught US History in three nations; some of the classes were at the college level. I have read this book. Some of it went right into my lectures. An excellent read. Those today who denigrate Lee---who like every man had faults---hate the truth and hate America.

  4. As a descendant of a "high private" who served under Marse Robert, he is held in the highest regard in my home.

  5. My Father, and my Father's Father, born and raised in the Tarheel state, fought in four wars for the United States said Lee was a great general but still a traitor to everything the Founding Fathers fought for. It's the Jim Crow south that rewrote history, and a false one at that. In the end we will win.

    1. Lincoln destroyed the founder's republic. He did not preserve anything. You have already lost.

  7. Vector, tht's funny, since the reason the South seceded was that they thought the Union had departed from Constitutional government, and they wanted to restore it in a nation of their own. Unfortunately, the tyrant Lincoln decided to be George III in this revolution.

  8. Based on the description at Amazon, the book would not be worth reading.
