Have a Quilt

  1. Grandma and Grandpa's place only had a wood stove in the middle room and the kitchen stove. She would pile those heavy quilts on us when we visited. I remember it being cold as ice in bed, then running in place to warm it up. The weight would put me to sleep almost instantly. Waking up toasty and seeing my breath when I exhaled. I wish I had just one of her old quilts.

  2. You brought back a lot of memories of living on the farm with my grandparents when I was young.....same scenario, pot belly wood burner in the living room and gas stove in the kitchen.....not to mention a cracker house in Florida built to stay cool in the warm weather, but the exceptional cold experienced in Florida in the 50's was enough to drive the Yankees further south from St. Petersburg to train in Ft. Lauderdale, and was difficult to over come in that drafty old farm house....we survived....

    1. We were fortunate to have those experiences. I look back on them with longing...
