And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Brings a whole new meaning to the term river monsters. Wow! Thanks for posting this, CW. I'm not interested in fishing for sturgeon, but I do appreciate that folks do. Amazing fish.
I was doing a 'Top to Bottom" rafting run down the Salmon River in Idaho starting up on the Middle Fork by Stanley Idaho and finishing 50 miles above Lewiston Idaho at Heller Bar, a take out on the Snake River. A 3 week trip on the finest river in the US. I was camped down below Riggin's by a huge pool and there was a big sturgeon who was breaching with a huge splash. It was dark and it sounded like a huge log hitting the surface. It was impressive and really made you sit up when it was doing it in the dark. I wish they would outlaw fishing for them on the Snake, a huge prehistoric fish that are rare.
Nice Sturgeon, eh?
ReplyDeleteI loved messing around in Hells Canyon.
