And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
The Isle of Lewis chess pieces were dug up on this guy's farm back in 1831 and were carved in the 13th century. They're made from whale's teeth. I've got a copy of the set, one side is alabaster white and the other looks like green jade. They make a terrific set of pieces. The carving on the clothing is detailed to the max. https://www.nms.ac.uk/explore-our-collections/stories/scottish-history-and-archaeology/lewis-chess-pieces/
How many kings and queens have ever been happy?
