And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
All about personal preferences. I've owned them and don't care for them. Take up to much real estate when opened. Everything is tucked away out of plain view. Plus they have to be unrolled to get to one tool. I'll take a vertical tote any day. Just me tho!
I compare the rollup to a tool bag (have both), which pocket has which tools is the hard part but having a pocket with just the screw drivers or just the 3/8 drive sockets or just the SAE wrenches is nice. I ought to go back to a 5 gal bucket for tools & just keep the rollup in that!
I prefer a 5 gal bucket with a "bucket buddy" on it. Lots of little pockets to keep the small bits separated and organized and plenty of room to keep the big tools in the center.
Gotta luv the Dollar Tree tools in the photos. Those throw-aways go in the trunk with the old spark plugs and stripped nuts and bolts in the dilapidated cardboard box next to the spare tire you're gonna get around to mounting properly one of these days.
Not for me, though I agree it can be a neat collection of most-needed stuff in a small package. The real problem is that this requires multiple copies of everything; in my shop, most tools live on a tool crib: pegboard. Find instantly, know what's wandering around, clear organization. Sockets in a toolbox, one drawer per size. I'd never know what was in the rollup, and the rummaging around would take forever. But for a car kit, sure. Assuming you actually would use such a thing.

ReplyDeleteIt won't be anywhere near that clean the first day after you use it.

ReplyDeleteVery good as a fly-away kit for the cars and trucks.
ReplyDeleteJust one more place to lose a 10mm socket....
ReplyDeleteCIII
If you have a multi-story house, better get one for each story. For sure it will be where you are not.
