And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

I've never seen a burger like these I post out in the "wild," but maybe someday I will.
Now that's MY kinda burger. 2 handed grease running down both arms and dripping off your elbows, pooling on the floor for the mutt to mop up. I'll take 2 pleez!
England of all places. Please tell me The Motherland hasn’t overshadowed The Colonies in burger domination? Upside is iff’n one finds themselves in Hereford, Shrewsbury, or Cheltenham you can at least get a good burger with a proper pint.
I was working in the UK about 20 years ago. I was bouncing back and forth between Cheltenham and Wolverhampton, so the company put me up in Birmingham, since it was equally inconvenient to both places. I had a short term lease at an apartment about a quarter mile from Bullring, if you’re familiar. I had a very expensive “gourmet” burger at a downtown restaurant. After nearly an hour wait, it came out room temperature and covered with something called red currant jam. I took one bite and walked away. I’m sure there are places in Britain that make good burgers, but I never found one while I was there and the ones the locals thought were good were uniformly disappointing. The fish and chips are great, the curries are worth the transatlantic trip and I’ll put the full English breakfast up against nearly any meal, but the burgers…..not so much
We happen to live just a few miles from one of the top rated burger joints in the country. Burgers akin to that are their normal bill of fare. We do not go as often as I'd like because my wife prefers another place's onion rings.
I suspect you need to be there for a commercial shoot.

What Rob said, often the burger they take a picture of isn't a burger at all. Hot glue figures prominently, for instance. It's a whole art form.
ReplyDeleteYou're hanging out at the wrong places. You need to find a good honky-tonk. There's one near here with a wild game burger - boar, venison & elk.

DeleteFrosto's in Crowley, Loozy-anna. Been there a long time.
ReplyDeleteThe "South 40" in Elbert, Colorado makes the BEST hamburgers (and elk burgers) in the world. Their Queso Burger on a pretzel roll is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the sell ammo too. My kinda place.

ReplyDeleteIsn't that the picture they used for the "Whammy Burger" in Falling Down?
ReplyDeleteI think we're supposed to take a big bite of what you get while thinking about the picture in the advertisement.
