And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Way back in the day, I was about 8 years old, and my grandfather offered me his matchbook collection. I gladly accepted and began my own collection. I probably ended up with about ten or fifteen cigar boxes full of them. As an aside, my grandfather smoked cigars, so I had a good supply of boxes. I guess that when I went off to the USMC, my mother cleaned out my bedroom and tossed my collection because when I got back home and got ready to finish college, there was no match books to be found.
