And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Whiskers likes his red wine -- or is it mouse blood?
Broaden your horizons. Cats, being devious as they are, harvested the blood over time from its captive victim. Now you know what those tiny leather straps are which you see time to time.
Got a rat terrier pup right off the farm. He does his job (kills mice outside) and walks away as if he has done it a thousand times before. Doesnt bite them or play with them, he pounces with front paws and snaps their neck.
Looks bored. Kitty is penultimate cat lady.
