And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? Section of fuselage blows out mid-air. Alaska Boeing 737 MAX 9 returns to Portland. Includes tower to plane communications.
Shortly after the fuselage door plug blew out, the cockpit door failed, and everything not nailed down exited the cockpit, or attempted to. This included both pilots' headsets, and may have included their oxy masks, if those had not been donned yet. I suspect that they were working with only partial knowledge of what sort of fuselage damage had occurred at this point. Noisier environment than normal for them, which may explain the over loud transmissions.
Juan Browne runs this channel and is accurate. Maintenance or the factory failed to properly secure the door. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=I9EvHpf8jZg
Not exactly Chuck Yeager calm and controlled on the radio from the cockpit.

DeleteEmergency exit door, not a 'chunk' of fuselage.
ReplyDeleteA de-commissioned door at that.
DeleteAir traffic control seemed to take their good old time answering, on multiple transmissions. Maybe that's how it works, but didn't seem right to me.
