Section of fuselage blows out mid-air. Alaska Boeing 737 MAX 9 returns to Portland. Includes tower to plane communications.

    1. Shortly after the fuselage door plug blew out, the cockpit door failed, and everything not nailed down exited the cockpit, or attempted to. This included both pilots' headsets, and may have included their oxy masks, if those had not been donned yet. I suspect that they were working with only partial knowledge of what sort of fuselage damage had occurred at this point. Noisier environment than normal for them, which may explain the over loud transmissions.

  3. Air traffic control seemed to take their good old time answering, on multiple transmissions. Maybe that's how it works, but didn't seem right to me.
