  3. That is what happened to George HW Bush. I believe that he was the youngest pilot in the US Navy at the time.

  4. Actually George Bush was not the youngest pilot as he claimed. Captain Chuck Downey beat him by a couple of months. He later wrote a letter to Downey acknowledging it.

  5. more accurately: George Bush bailed three times. one was an engine failure seconds after takeoff. he received criticism for not rescuing his crewmates during the election, but not from the Navy during the war. that plane has three separate cockpits, and no outside handle - the ground crew had a square key. if you can;t get out on your own, hey - you knew the juob was tough when you took it.
