And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Years ago a friend of mine in Fort Worth had a house that was on a elevated rolling hill with a neighbor named Charles Tandy (Tandy Leathercraft and Radio Shack. Asked him one day if he had ever met Tandy. "Yep, one time when one of his kids failed to set the parking brake and their car rolled down into Tandy's swimming pool." Tandy was a really good guy and did a lot for Fort Worth and just laughed of the little event.
