And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I've been tempted by some of the low priced, high review count, Wen products but haven't pulled the trigger yet.
BTW, lose the shitty stand with splayed legs that get in the way and build one out of 3/4" plywood with casters to hold extra blades, fences, jigs, tools, and other necessities.
My Son got one of their little bandsaws like that from Santa couple years ago (what he asked for....) It's not bad at all, frankly. You're not going to rip down a skid of 2x4's, but then why would you? It's a passable bandsaw for those occasional tasks you might have in a shop. If you're a woodworker looking at Jet components, this one isn't for you. I just used it last weekend on a piece of maple firewood... I wanted to trim out a section of the heartwood to make a tool handle for one of my garden tools that broke. It worked. Struggled in some spots when I twisted it, but it worked on the straight aways.... Operator error.
Honestly, it’s a decent little bandsaw. I have that machine, labeled as ‘Steel City Tool Works’, and it does everything I ask of it as a light duty bandsaw. Properly tuned, with the proper blade, it cuts very well.
TOTALLY CORRECT. If you're a homeowner, small woodworker, limited budget, limited need, ;WEN tools are a decent value. NOT great; not full featured, some issues, but all in all a place to start or even a place to live. Just don't expect old Milwaukee iron performance or quality; if your expectations are rational, you'll generally be happy at a value/price point.
Any bandsaw is better than no bandsaw when it comes to some tasks. As some said you will not be doing major wood working with this but enough to be a big help on those weekend projects around the home.

Excellent Idea.
DeleteDamn right. OK saw- you get what you pay for. Crappy stand.
DeleteLooks almost exactly like my 14" Craftsman.
ReplyDeleteExcept 10", not 14", way less power, bad fence, etc.
DeleteWEN is a great entry level tool company. Especially when you consider the price of some of the products out there.
ReplyDelete3.5 Amp. Hope you are not planning on cutting any hardwoods

ReplyDeleteBut will it last as long as a Frigidaire refrigerator?
ReplyDeleteI have a difficult time keeping the blade fro skuing
ReplyDeleteYou can get a pretty good 'homeowner' type benchtop saw for about $50 less and make the stand as Ghostsniper notes.
ReplyDeleteSome pretty bad reviews on that one.
