And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Agree !! After covering a 6 week and 10,000-mile trip around the US and northern Mexico back in the '70's with my "amateur" converted (but not 4wd) Econoline, I always thought a 4wd full-size van would be the optimum travel/camping vehicle. But no manufacturer ever produced one commercially, Sure, there were aftermarket conversions -- like the Pathfinder (but they were expensive), and mid-size 4wd vans like the Aerostar and Chevy equivalent of the '90's/early 2000's-- but neither option was as robust as a 3/4-1 ton van with the underpinnings of a corresponding 4wd pickup would be.
Yes -- today, you can buy one of the "full sized "Euro styled" vans" with a 4wd option - but none of them appear to be robust enough to tackle the rough stuff, like the one pictured.

Sportsmobile does 4WD conversions on vans.
ReplyDeleteI spent 12 months and 29 days "camping" on my US Marine M-67A2 Flame-thrower tank in Vietnam. I do not go camping any more.
ReplyDeleteHow did you get the 29 day extension? Must have really enjoyed the beautiful scenery so much you asked for 30 day extension. Semper Fi.
DeleteThe standard tour for Marines in Vietnam, as I recall, was 13 months. Unlike the 12-month tour for the other services.
Delete"Little boxes, RV boxes, and they're all made out of ticky-tacky, little boxes, on the roadside and they all look just the same......"
ReplyDeleteModern trucks are mostly ugly boxes I think. Styling has gone into hibernation.
$150k, and it looks really heavy.

Just needs a Mr. Fusion to keep it running after civilization collapses.
ReplyDeleteAnd a Dillon Aero mini-gun turret.
DeleteAnd a trailer full of ammo to feed that Dillon.
