    1. That's what I was thinking.
Probably be the only thing straight in the picture.

    1. I preferred the cut of the Chocolate Chip desert uniform. The sleeves on the BDU were a bit confining. I finally broke down and got the next larger blouse and had it tailored to fit so I could roll my sleeves up. I had 19" biceps most of the time I was in the Air Force.

    2. You Doggie (Army) dudes and your BDU's. The Marine call their work uniform, "Utilities" and they normally only wear them for work. You Doggies look like an unmade bed when you go out in public. So sad.

    3. Yes! I saw the BDU’s and right away I thought to myself, that was still the real Marine Corps, the old Marine Corps. I was a 22 year Army grunt but always had respect for the Corps. I also usually kept a box of crayons in my pocket in case one of the Marines needed a snack.

  5. Senior Drill Instructor always has the black belt. It's been almost 45 years, but I remember it all like yesterday.

    1. True, except when doing drill with the NCO sword. This is either 1st phase or 3rd phase testing. You can see the drill card tucked behind the belt.

  7. Hoping they all read Smedley Butler's WAR IS A RACKET. The USMC have had their share of Bankster's Wars.

  10. It's after 1977 for sure. We were switching from utilities to cammies then. Can't make out the Senior's ribbons to clarify because that would tell alot more as far as time period. Tallest to the shortest. 1st squad down to 4th squad. I was 6 ft tall and was the 3rd guy down in 1st squad. Now I'd be somewhere in the end of 3rd squad the kids are so tall nowadays.
