And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Jiff still sells some large size cans. Peter Pan sold in cans for a long time. I think it used to be pretty common back in the day. I remember seeing my grandmother opening a can and stiring the oil. Can't remember what the brand was but it was peanut butter
Some C rations had peanut butter in a small can. You'd save it until you got a package of crackers in another C ration, or you could trade it. You had to stir it up because the oil always separated.

ReplyDeleteNot invent, so much as invent cheap mass produced. Press and blow technology made mass produced widemouth glass containers cheap. All plastic now....

We went through two cans of peanut butter and three of jams every summer up at our cottage. That was back in the 50's.
