Grease knocks off the high frequencies, but more importantly retains dust, which then grinds off vinyl. Not worried about the styli, they're generally diamond.

ReplyDeleteAnd I wouldn't worry too much about finger grease, those old turntables, with the AudioLathe styluses, would work through just about anything.
