They used to give away ocean front lots as incentives to invest in other projects. I had met some guys who had inherited a home built by their grandfather on four adjacent lots.
FWIW, Google Earth shows it mildly changed in 60 years: the house on the right is now white, the plants have grown up to block the view, they've put in parking meters, and stairs to get to the beach, and the surrounding neighborhood is jam-packed. A property around the corner half a block to the left is going for a paltry $12.9M. Chump change for ocean-front property hereabouts.
Notably, the ocean hasn't risen a whit in 40 years due to globull warming/climate change, or whatever current climastrology the communists are currently peddling. If anything, the beach is wider.
