Transmission, I saw a Kiowa in Afghanistan do that dance. The pilot and co-pilot were strapped in rag dolls and couldn't reach the controls to shut it down. The Kiowa ended up on its side.

May have already been tethered to the deck and unable to get the gear off the surface to interrupt the progression of the disaster-in-making. IIRC, it is quicker to lift than to get the rotor slowed enough to stop it.
