And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Our boat, SSN688 LA Class, had a 10,000 gallon per day still, which is a good amount of potable water. Even so, you'd get called out for taking a what we called Hollywood shower. You were supposed to soak yourself, shut off the water, lather up, and rinse off. Anything else was a Hollywood.
Not sure I’d have high confidence the guy on shark watch could hit a fast moving shark or stop it with a 7.62 round. Always make sure someone is further away from the group than you are.
I've done that a few times. The first time was 50 years ago in Exuma Sound, also known as "Tongue of the Ocean". The sea that day was so calm, it was almost like glass, and the water was so clear you could clearly see the turn of the hull 35 ft down.
Is the sub able make its own fresh water for drinking and showers?
ReplyDeleteYes. That is a nuclear submarine so they can make fresh water. It is more for the steam plant but also for potable water use.

Deleteon my father's orders.
DeleteYou got that right!
DeleteNotice the lookout with the rifle. They don't know who/what they're swimming with.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, it can make fresh water and oxygen.
M14 rifle, 7.62 NATO
DeleteDid that on my first boat in Exuma Sound, Bahamas...
ReplyDeleteSwim call memories off of the coast of Lahaina, HI for me.
ReplyDeleteThat’s a M-14 and is probably on shark watch
ReplyDeleteYep. One guy on shark watch. Or anything that thinks sailors would be tasty.
ReplyDeleteSwim call at the AUTEC Range near the Bahamas

ReplyDeleteI was in the water and looked back to see my buddy on shark watch with the m-14. It took him three times at the range to qualify, and he was a TM.

ReplyDeleteI've heard the grub is good on submarines. You wouldn't believe the slop they serve in civilian run chow halls.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing beans and hard boiled eggs are left off the menu in submarines ...
ReplyDeleteI'd never thought about where fresh water comes from on submarines. I figured it was stored in hull.
