What Roman Emperors Looked Like Using AI, Facial Reconstruction, And Photoshop

  1. I can see how they'd get the facial features and hair, but how do they get the complexion? Augustus would look entirely different if they have him Caracalla's complexion and eye color.

I guess there could be historical documents describing them.

  2. Caracalla's father came from North Africa and his mother was from Syria. Octavian's family was coastal Italian, Lucius Verus' family was also from central Italy (though he was born in Spain). So, it would make sense for Caracalla to have a darker complexion. Here's a compendium of appearances with sources for the early emperors: https://www.theapricity.com/earlson/history/emperors.htm
