  3. I believe I have read that the as-built pyramids had smooth sides, but after people stopped believing in pharoahs/gods, the nice stuff was stripped off for other construction.
    True?

    2. A lot of the fine, white cladding got shook off in a massive earthquake. The Muslim Arab conquerors used all of it building their new capital of Cairo.
