  1. I got the Performer, the one on the cart back when they were around $300. That one is too short for me.

  2. From around 1970 until 1985, I cooked outdoors almost exclusively on a Weber Kettle. I have more recently cooked on a Weber (propane) gas grill. While the charcoal grill was fun and adventuresome, the gas grill is predictable and easy.

  3. Again, I have used a Weber propane gas grill (I am on my 3rd one) for the past fifteen years. One man's trash is another man's treasure. As an aside, I was a housewares buyer for several large Dept. Stores over the years. Weber has the best quality (moderate priced) grills in the world.

  4. Is there any point to a gas grill? Might as well cook on an indoor stove.

  5. Get a Slow-N-Sear for it. They are amazing!

  7. It's not good that you are proud that a low tech item like this is made in the USA.

It's a piece of stamped sheet steel with minor gas fitting odds and sods, legs and wheels that should be made in a third world craphole like China, leaving Americans free to make sophisticated, high tech, high skill products.

  8. Loved my original red one, bought at Sears in 1994 for $59.99. Wooden handle, lid ring on the back and accurate thermometer. The newer blue one we have is like this one. Not quite as good. Has a hook on inside of lid, plastic handle and the thermometer is about 75 degrees off. Still works though, a lot.
