And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The Captain sent me this picture of elephant seals sleeping on a beach in Marin County. Makes me want to go up an pat them on their fat bellies.
They're both skittish and nasty, and won't hesitate to bite. You might could get away with it if you rigged up a scrub brush with a loooong handle to give them a good belly scratch.
I wouldn't worry of the pinniped as much as the government two footed scoundrel. They'll drain yer bank account and steal yer freedom for 'harassing' the animal.
