And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I never thought about it before, but I guess on a right hand drive rig the gas pedal would be on the left and the clutch pedal would be on the right, wouldn't it? For me, that would be harder to get used to than driving on the wrong side of the road.
Did two tours in the UK, best advice was always thinking "left, left, left" when driving. Had a six speed US spec Corvette and a UK spec Range Rover with a three speed manual (before they became fancy). Tried shifting the door handle more times than I'd like to admit.

Just thinking out loud.
Nope. Same pedal arrangement, in my experience.
ReplyDeleteI'll be darned. Thanks.
DeleteThe big issue for me was reaching for the gear shift and rolling down the window, instead. That poor airport rental car never stood a chance.
DeleteHardest part to learn is looking first to the right at crosswalks. Still look to right first at all intersections here in the states.
DeleteIf I was a passenger in her car, I'd find it pretty easy to look to the right first. :-)
DeleteAgreed, but never drove a manual in GB. Same shifting pattern? Or backasswards.
DeleteAll working parts for the driver are the same...clutch, gas and brake peddles. Gear shift and parking brake.

I'm thinking Alfa but that's a think.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of my '61 Giulietta Spyder dash but...Could it be one of the big ones?
ReplyDeleteMuch bigger car than a Giulietta, or she is a munchkin. That shifter is too far away from the driver in a G Spider to my eye, though.
DeleteForget the car, the girl is gorgeous.
