And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Speaking from experience, these things are very useful.
(sigh) Irwin Augur Bit, used to have HQ just down the road from me in Wilmington Ohio. No longer, plant closed decades ago. The name lives as a zombie, everything made overseas now. (turn, spit)
I once used one forstner bit to drill 1728 holes to countersink the screws used to fasten 1x10 tongue & groove yellow pine flooring planks to fir joists. The flooring screws had washers that fit the 3/8 holes perfectly. I plugged the holes with 3/8 black walnut dowels glued in place and sawed flush, then finished the whole thing with a big floor sander.

ReplyDeleteThat one forstner bit was amazing.
I like them over paddle bits. They leave e cleaner hole especially if not going all the way through.
