  1. Feh, you can can with any pot big enough to hold your jars. Save your money and invest in a freeze drier. It's a much better solution to long term storage.

    2. Tell me again how you make bread and butter pickles with a freeze drier?

    3. I don't do it full time but this is the newer version of the one I've been using for about 6 years. I also bought additional trays, screens, and sheets.

  2. Dan, there's only one company that makes them, Harvest Right. They just improved their line and lowered their prices, so this is a good time to buy. I have a 4-tray medium and a 5-tray large, which they just improved to 5 and 6 trays respectively. I like them both, but the cycle time on the medium is faster (I think they use the same refrigeration for both, so it makes sense).

Kinda spendy but I guess you get what you pay for with this technology.

  4. We own one with holders for 4 oz, 8 oz, 16 oz & 32 oz jars, depending on what we're canning.

  5. We've owned a Harvest Right for a couple of years. There are other options for home freeze dryers. I suggest looking into Alpine Blue - not "assembled in USA" from overseas parts, but actually built entirely in the USA.

  6. I have the most expensive electric utility in the USA; that thing would kill me financially.
