And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Boulder rolls off the hill and through the house. TV stayed on.
Anytime I see one of these "near miss" videos, my belief in God is strengthened. How in the Sam Hill that didn't squish her is a miracle. It's crazy how many people miss death by a hair.
I find it very strange that most houses in the US are flimsy wooden structures compared to what I am used to in France. For example the external walls of my house are 0.5 metre (1.64 ft) thick solid stone blocks and internal walls are 4 inch thick concrete blocks. There was one time a car crashed into the wall on the street side and took some paint off the wall but totalled the car. Different countries different standards but I will stick with what I have.
Reminds me of a movie (can't recall now) where a fellow was driving up to his place in France (clearly some Medieval castle,) and he remarks to his American friend, "I know it's a hand me down, but it's home."

ReplyDeleteWhen it's time to die, it's time to die.
DeleteNobody tells Jesus, "Just a minute. I'll be right there." When he calls you, you go. It's over.
“It is appointed once for a man to die, and after that, the judgement “! And this…” tomorow is promised to no one”! Pretty sobering stuff, huh?
DeleteLucky girl, I hope she went out and lit a candle.... or bought a lottery ticket.
ReplyDeleteJudging by the housekeeping, that home was already a wreck! Look at all that crap piled up. Time to clean out.
ReplyDeleteand we feel so secure surrounded by our walls of ½" drywall
ReplyDeleteWas that coyote involved? Was Acme printed on that thing?

That was some day for her!
ReplyDeleteClose encounter with death...just a few more steps and she's be dead. Take a picture for insurance purposes inside and outside of home.

DeleteThose 'flimsy wooden structures' are far less expensive to build.
DeleteThat nails my argument against mountain living.
